Canada Rare Earth Appoints Head of Capital Projects, South America
Vancouver, British Columbia: Canada Rare Earth Corp. (“Canada Rare Earth” or the “Company”) (TSX.V: LL) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dorival de Carvalho Pinto, Ph.D. as Head of Capital Projects, South America focusing closely on the Company’s projects underway in Brazil.
Tracy A. Moore, Chief Executive Officer of the Company explained, “Dori has worked closely with Canada Rare Earth as an advisor and consultant for over two years giving him considerable insight into our business, strategy, and prospects. As a Brazilian he understands the culture and business practices in South America. This, combined with his extensive commercial and academic background make him a very good fit for leading our plans in South America. His previous experience with large scale mineral sands operations will apply directly to the processing of tailings at the Company’s Bom Futuro project which we acquired in December 2019 (see news release dated December 19, 2019) that is situated on 590 hectares containing rare earths, cassiterite, ilmenite and zircon. Dori will also be insightful as we continue our studies of heavy mineral sand operations in other part of the world.”
Dori completed Ph.D and Master’s degrees in Mineral Economics at the Colorado School of Mines, USA. He has worked in the United States, Australia and Brazil. During the period 1978 through 1986, Dori was the Superintendent of RIB - Rutile and Ilmenite, a Bayer Group Company, where he was responsible for the mining and ore treatment of the largest heavy mineral sands mine in South America. He was Director of the Mining Engineering Course at Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) in Brazil from 1994 to 1998 and was Head of the Mining Engineering Department at UFPE, from 2004 to 2008.
From 2010 until 2012, Dori held the position of Chief Executive Officer of “Companhia de Minerao do Tocantins – MINERATINS” a Brazilian state-owned company focusing on the region’s geology and mining endeavours. In this position, Dori also served as the Secretary of State.
Dori is fluent in Portuguese and English and understands Spanish, German and Japanese.”
