RE:RE:To go electric, America needs more minesBob
Cattlemen have a lot of power in the state, those lackeys and sycophants in the capital are in the pockets of the big ranchers, they do their bidding. Coyotes lynx cougars all prey on cattle/ calves.
The point i was making is if the cow guys don't want a mine being developed, if they sue to stop a mine or other type of development from happening, you need to take their lawsuit very seriously, they have real power and the full backing, cooperation of the state gov't.
But heres the main thing - I seriously doubt anyone is raising cows in the middle of Clayton Valley.
As you know i run a small herd of Dexters, coyotes are a major problem, lots of cougar and lynx around but the dogs do a good job of keeping them away from the herd, especially in spring calving season where all of us are very watchful, cautious when it comes to losing calves.
The worst pest though are ravens. Yep, damn birds will land on a new born calves head and take out its eyes. They will land on a ewe and start on its back end and pull out its guts when feeding from its mom. They are also hell on our fowl.
This is all learned activity, every year we are forced to hunt the parent birds and remove them and their siblings.
