RE:RE:Bill C-218 Jim Lawson from WEG (Woodbine Entertainment) who runs the marquee racetracks here in Ontario, wants nothing more than to be partnered with one of the top players who will get the sports betting rights. They already have been in talks with one online brand to partner. Please don't ask me who it is, as I don't know. But I do know they are hoping this will help to subsidize the purse fund for racing. Currently racing has a $2B funding agreement that was originally for 19 years after the government terminated the SARP (Slots at the racetrack program). Over $100M a year that goes to the tracks for purse funds and operations. With a sports wagering partnership (Similar to NJ) they could depend less on Government funding and more on the infusion of $ made through sports wagering. This is why I am involved with the Score, and all I can say is. I hope I'm right.
