THE FUTUREFor the past year, since his promotion to CEO, we have not seen any positive leadership or decisive executive action at IMG. With the excessive cash sitting idle in the bank, he had the opportunity to provide growth through an acquisition, could have implemented a share buy-back program or declared a dividend for the long time suffering shareholders. But he chooses to do nothing! The role of the CEO, is to provide leadership, possess strong decision-making skills, set short-term and long-term plans for the organization, establish policies that will support these goals and objectives, and most importantly look after the interests of the shareholders. His business model has been a failure and has resulted in a low share price for the company. Obviously, the market has not embraced his financial strategy. What can he do about the situation? He could initiate a cost cutting program in the organization and as an example, start by taking a pay-cut. This would show that he’s serious and committed about his undertaking. He’s been navigating the IMG Boardroom since 2007, with his academic skills and experience, now is the time to show some real leadership skills and take some positive and decisive executive actions that will move the company forward. Continual talk about all the potential IMG exploration projects is one thing but having the desire and fortitude to act is something else.
