RE:RE:Could Perseverance be Hacked? Common knowledge that NASA has been hacked in the past. 20 years ago a 15 yr old kid and more recently Mars Curiousity files hacked by someone using a $25 Raspberry PI. Perseverance would be like a trophy, a show of strength and a reminder. A lot of info shared by space agencies around the world, even partnerships with nations you wouldn't expect. So hacking Martian machinery may not be a priority in a national interest sense but perhaps for an independent group it's the Holy Grail.
JMO but I think the best hack would be one that's undetectable. While that may be on someone's wish list, for company like BB the mantra may be 'No hack is undetectable'. For OEM utilising Tier 1, it'd be like paying for a second opinion. If I was Tesla I'd be asking BB if they could hack us. Or we could be the door to door vacuum salesman who throws dirt on your floor.
Anecdotal.....I've worked with engineers my entire career. Company was run by them. They're great but not infallible. I've seen over a million bucks spent on a tool for a problem a field worker fixed with a $5 part bought at local hardware store. Engineers have asked me questions that they should know the answer for. I guess what I'm saying is you have to put your trust in somebody. Engineers trust one another same as any other groups with common interests and backgrounds.
