Selinsing / et al are Orogenic gold Deposits I recently researched this type of gold deposit , as one such orogenic deposit has been discovered in my region and it is emerging as a very rich high grade discovery.
The term orogenic gold deposit is defined by as a coherent group of vertically-extensive, gold-only deposits that formed in broad thermal equilibrium with their wall-rocks from low-salinity H2O–CO2 ore fluids at crustal depths from 2 km to 15 km, and arguably up to 20 km
Although this term is widely accepted , there is ongoing debate on the genesis of this deposit group, but I won't go into that .
Instead, the unique temporal and spatial association of this deposit type with orogeny means that the vein systems are best termed orogenic gold deposits.
On the basis of their depth of formation, the orogenic deposits are best subdivided into epizonal (<6 km in depth )mesozonal (6–12 km in depth ) and hypozonal (>12 km in depth ) classes.
Either way you look at it, such orogenic gold deposits go quite deep into the earth , are pure gold, with the mother lode increasing in grade and width with depth.
Selinsing and its satellite deposits ( including Peranghi and Mentique ) are orogenic in origin.
It is noteworthy that few if any of the gold deposits in Malaysia have ever been drilled at depths below 150- 200 m vertical depth.
I am not aware...but could be challenged on that...of any underground gold mines in Malaysia .
I bring this up as a point of interest, as predictions of the shallow uplift of the mother lode are not possible and would only be confirmed by deep drilling below those depths typically engaged in at Selinsing .
