They used to have to swap batteries in their equipment at least once each shift because charging is too slow and inefficient. Battery equipment also slows down considerably during the shift. Swapping batteries required a lot of extra labor and battery storage room. The fuel cell units fuel up once a shift in 3 minutes. The fuel cell equipment used by these companies log over 500,000 combined run-time hours each day, 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. These companies must feel fuel cells are better than battery only. Their hydrogen fuel cell equipment moves 30% of all food consumed in the US.
