I was a previous employee of VerisanteI did some contract engineering for Verisante back in 2012/2013. On the outside, the company looked great; lots of exciting news backed by promising technology. On the inside the company was a mess.
The company was run by a couple of lawyers that didn't understand the technology or the process of engineering a product and bringing it to market, let alone a medical device. They were more concerned with the companies external image than the actual engineering and funtionality of the device. They didn't even work in the same office as the engineers; they had a fancy office downtown Vancouver and then had a 2nd office in Richmond for the team that was actually developing the products. This lead to a general lack of communication between the executives and the rest of the company which is obserd for a startup.
The press releases that were basically pipe dreams and hopefull thinking.
It is unfortunate because it was interesting technology and with proper managment it could have been really useful.
