RE:RE:RE:RE:AQN got 2 huge project Hey Bossu
Thanks for thinking of me. I have been moving stuff into our TFSAs from both our RRSP/RRIF and non-reg accounts for a number of years. I've been using both in kind transfers and manual buy TFSA sell other account.
The problem with our AQN holding (and of course, I'm not complaining about this) is that it is mostly in our non-reg accounts and I'm sitting on a capital gain of 221.3% and my wife's is 68.2%. It's our biggest "paper gainer".
I had noted than you were early 80s back a while ago. I'm only 68 and my wife is 64. I actually converted my enire RRSP to a RRIF when I was 64 so we could income split. I also set it up with my wife's age so the minimum withdrawal% is smaller.
I have always loved tmath and really got into the tax side when I went part time in 2011 and even more so when I fully retired in 2013.
Take care

Best advice ( from a stupid BB follower)
If you think AQN is going to hit the roof in a short while you could transfert part of it to your TFSA now and pay taxes on the actual share price discount.
You will not have to pay taxes on the plus value of AQN in the coming months and dividentd not taxable,
Just whan to share my experience because I did it some years ago and has been always a good decision.
At the moment TFSA in our 2 acccounts ( MY wife & I) is much higher than what I have in my RIFF)
And just to give you an Idea my RIFF 100% and TFSA 138 %
i made this strategy 5 years ago and you have the perfec age to make the switch .I evaluate your age and your whife at 72 while I'm 82
Please :keep that info confidential !
