Protectionism (duties), taxes, and low employment were main drivers of depression.  

But, I dont think the US. Gov threw a blanket of cheap credit and money for everyone policies back then.  They also did not have the concerted effort to prop things up like we are seeing from most countries.  when one country farts we all smell due to Globalization.....

anyways, Im not disagreeing, I am paritally of the belief we are there for some segments of the population.  Whether permanent or temporary.....no idea
