RE:CCSThe system that AAV developed appears to be quite novel. It is sequestering the carbon PRE-combustion, which I think means they are converting to hydrogen gas before burning it in there plants. This is quite different then the previous process of using amines to scavenge CO2 from the exhaust. Prior to this release, it was thought that CCS would require very high carbon pricing to make sense. If what they say is true, this is really good for AAV and Canada in general. The province of Alberta could have annual dispatchable carbon zero electricity at a price lower than Solar + Battery.
I need to do more research but my guess is they found a way to make blue hydrogen at time of use with some sort of catalyst or treatment that requries much less energy than steam reforming.
