RE:RE:Are there any Timmins locals on here?

RE:RE:Are there any Timmins locals on here?I lived and worked in Timmins for 2 years back in 1997. But Geddy is right.

My first job was logging drill core at the Pamour Mine. At the time the open pit was right up against hwy 101 and a new orebody was found right underneath it and Three Nations Lake.  The plan at the time was to move Hwy 101 to the south of the lake. There was even talk at the time to "bill them to replace the 2 lane road" but upgrade the highway to a 4 lane highway all the way to the Met Site.

The plan was shelved for a number of years, due to the collapse of the price of gold, but it was eventually finished. The road was moved but only a 2 lane. Something similar was done in Kearns (Larder Lake). Highway 66 had to be moved to the north of the Town due to ground stability issues with the old Kerr Addison mine. That was done very quickly because it was a public safety issue.

Moving the highway can be done easily if needed.
