I think the reason for keeping the "fancy names" for our beverages, edibles , sprays and our gel caps might be partly for the reason you wrote, but for other reasons too. I dont think all of these products are pretty much void of everything that relates to the strain. Some of these products include the terpenes and stuff. Also, even cannabis capsules that have terpenes removed, they still have the cannabinoid content of the specific strain.
Maybe some of these injestable products may also change to the original cultivator name over time. But for many reasons, they might not with some of the products.

Most longs might recall my post last year about wanting to pivot away from our "hero" strains Bakerstreet / penelope / houndstooth for our dry flower strains and focus more on the original cultivar name .
Bakerstreet Penelope Houndstooth Highlands Donegal Balmoral
Hindu Kush Skunk Haze C-Land Afghan kush Green Cush Uk Cheese
From now on for our flower strains we are putting the focus on the cultivar moving away from our hero strain names . This is huge !
Of coarse we will keep it for our beverages, chocolates , sprays and our gel caps due to the distillate after extraction is pretty much void of everything that relates it to the strain.
Hey WEb how is going . Yeah we all had a good discussion about this and most here wanted this change too .
Some LP's offer a broad spectrum or FULL spectrum gummie (affirma). But we dont.
Furthermore most legal offerings that are distillates (510 carts) reintroduce botanical terpenes which are not strain specific or even come from cannabis plants . Botanical terpenes are plant or fruit produced terps and are widely used VS using strain specific terps . Now
live resin 510 carts are flash frozen at harvest to preserve all these compounds for the "entouage effect" which gives a more "fuller high" so if you want strain specific terps buy a live resin cart VS a distillate cart.
As far as the beverages and chocolates using the strain names that is staying with the hero strains bakerstreet ,houndstooth ,penelope . When using distilled cannabis you are extracting pure thc so that you can produce a product with no cannabis taste . So no terps or flavinoids . After this process you are left with pretty much no resembalance of the strain you used unless you reintroduce the terpenes after the distilling process . Which for beverages you dont want to and our chocolates we dont want to either because we have our world renowned award winning hummingbird , and we want customers to taste the chocolate not cannabis .
Hi DSEEGS. I'm good. How are you doing? This is true, Canopy removes terpenes out of some products. I want to add that some of our beverages like Tweeds houndstooth and Soda do have terpenes included. I'm not sure if they are all added after though. Also, these terpenes may or may not be from the specific cannabis strain that the drink was made from, especially if they are added in after (as you pointed out with 510 carts). They could be adding cannabis terpenes from other cannabis sources and maybe even some non-cannabis terpenes to the drink. Many of our oils also have terpenes left in. For example, i think all of canopys oral sprays have terpenes left in.
I think if you want to make sure to get ABSOLUTELY everything out of the plant, you will have to eat flower that has been decarboxylated. But most people will only consume decarbed whole flower on rare occasions, for multiple treasons. One problem is, flower can be very smelly and when a flower eating human takes a dump or releases gas, I have heard that it smells like very strong marijuana mixed with poop. Perhaps some people like this, this way they can enjoy the smell of cannabis all day long as it leaks out of their butt. I would personally prefer the smell of fresh cannabis, but everyone is differant. I feel that the smell of poop would destroy the enjoyment received from the cannabis smell. Also, just knowing that the smell is coming from the inside of someone's butt is a real turn off to many people.
Regarding the gummies you mentioned which include terpenes and stuff, I think those are good products, but as you know, some customers hate gummies with any cannabis flavour. Maybe canopy should make some gummies like that also though, but they should label them clearly for the people that dont like gummies like this. I looked at canopys tablets and saw that some have terpenes removed while other do not have terpenes removed.
I noticed today that Tweed houndstooth and Soda is not on ocs.ca. Maybe they sold out.
