RE:RE:A big part of our problem
Perplexing isn't it that China does what is in their own best interests. They were stockpiling while commodities were cheap, relatively speaking. The USA doesn't even have a strategic stockpile, the good old invisible hand will make sure we have all we need in a crisis. Now that China has the upper hand in commodities globally, a few are finally seeing the light. Maybe we should invest in processing our rare earth's. Maybe instead of spending all we can borrow on new ways to kill efficiently, we could subsidize the production of elements necessary for a civilized life. What we can count on is China acts & plans for the very long term with logic. While the USA spent it's "extra" learning new ways to blow atolls to smithereens, China spends it's extra building islands that will last 1,000's of years, with the accompanying fishing & mineral rights. It concerned me during the pandemic height that China was buying commodities like crazy. But it turns out, they were just looking far down the road at inflation. Maybe they will attempt to manipulate the nickel market, but even if not, today's nickel prices are more than good enough. While China has 50, 25, & 5 year plans, the USA doesn't have a plan for tomorrow's lunch, other than military of course. My wager is that nickel is going to far outpace inflation in price. But even if not Canada Nickel remains a venture of epic financial gain.
