OT: Rocky, the really strange part of getting old

OT: Rocky, the really strange part of getting old is seeing the far off future become reality.  - "i-80 said it would “aggressively pursue” the development of the Pinson underground and open pit opportunities."

It was at Pinson 40 years ago I was inspired by that young Canadian geologist to write this poem

NEVADA GOLD
She waits silently, for she knows the men will return.
They always have.  They abandoned her before,
left her alone in the cold desert night, but they always return.

Difference men at different times, but so much alike.
Each thinks he is an issue, but in reality,
they are all very much the same.

When they return, they will again force themselves into her.
And wherever their heavy hands lay upon her tender skin,
a wound that scars but never heals will mark her exquisite beauty.

The damage has been done and is done once more.
This time, they will force her to submit to their terrible machines,
that rip open her flesh and poison her life’s blood.

Unable or unwilling to love her for the joy she so freely gives,
instead they covet, and then steal her secret treasures.
And then leave her,
alone again.
