a glimpse of Sprott's early Fosterville participationThere are a lot of similarities in the pattern of his Newmarket (Fosterville) shares accumulation, and his current pattern with NFG.
He began aggressive accumulation of Newmarket in April 2016, when he acquired 10 million shares @$2.25 (he already owned over 4 million), and in August 2016, he added another 16.2 million @$2.80. That gave him 30.33 million, or 17.3% of outstanding shares.
This came at a time when the Fosterville mine was a mediocre open pit / underground miner, and they were just beginning to encounter some blips of high grade zones, but did not yet fully realize the significance of what they were touching the tip of in the months and years ahead.
Note that time frame for Sprott's massive accumulation of Newmarket occured after he sent Quentin to take a look at Fosterville, and QH reported back on his interpretation, which turned out to be "on the money".
Also to be noted, is that the Kirkland Lake acquisition of Newmark (Fosterville Mine) took placed later that same year (2016).
Sprott owned over 20 million Kirkland Lake when it began it's run towards $70. He still owned over 14 million shares in late 2019.
