Drilling stops for the spring thaw, also known as mud season, for geologic drillers in cold climates. Everything is a complete mess for 2 to 5 weeks as the snow melts, collects, oozes, & creates giant mud slogs everywhere tracked equipment moves. I don't know that is why they are stopped for this case but it is about that time for that region of North America. All drillers stop for the spring thaw when it occurs in cold climes. If you have ever tried to get things done with heavy equipment anywhere during mud season, you can appreciate why waiting until it is over is better.
