RE:Why Covid threatens 3rd world mining i.e. Peru

RE:Why Covid threatens 3rd world mining i.e. PeruI know people currently living in Lima.  The country is a mess.  In spite of the govt's efforts to contain Covid, there are so many difficulties that are difficult to overcome:
1.  Only an estimated 7% of the workforce can telecommute.  People have to travel to work.
2.  Population is over 32m, but pre-Covid the country had an estimated 100 ICU beds(!!!).  Today there is an estimated 1,900 ICU beds.  The public health care system is a disaster.  My friends have known of many friends' parents that have died of Covid as they can't get into a hospital and can't get oxygen.  The cost of a private hospital bed - if you can find one - is around $30k.
3.  The Brazilan varient has been especially deadly.
The situation in India is getting even worse.  More deadly variants and, similar to Peru, they're losing the battle, resulting in more and more virulent varients.
