Air Canada launched its new service to BSL (Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg) as part of our expansion of international cargo-only routes. The new YYZ-BSL route will run twice weekly using Boeing 787-9 aircraft. Air Canada is the only North American carrier currently operating direct wide-body flights to this destination and AC7220 is the first regular transatlantic cargo flight to EuroAirport since early 2000. Most of the freight carried on our first flight consisted of pharmaceuticals and was transported in Envirotainers, a type of active temperature-controlled unit designed to maintain a consistently cool environment for sensitive cargo. Services launched April 14.
Another interesting note: RBC cut its AC PT to $24 but set prognosis at OUTPERFORM. This one is damned funny! Wondering if RBC is still unhappy about not winning the RFP bid for Aeroplan Credit card from about 2 years ago? TD, CIBC and AMEX locked in the 'richest' loyalty credit card in Canada. And left RBC on the outside, looking in, with no inside information on Aeroplan card spend, and no opportunity to profit from it for many years.
