A news with rosy lenses:

Alberta is not cutting back scheduled surgeries in its two major cities and the northern part of the province to make room for a possible influx of COVID-19 hospitalizations.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) said beginning Tuesday and for the next two weeksup to 30% 0% per cent of surgeries in the Calgary, Edmonton and North zones would be postponed, as well as some non-urgent procedures and ambulatory appointments.

The cancelled procedures has not been cancelled and don’t have to will be rebooked as soon as possible, AHS said, and only those affected will be contactedso no calls have been done

"These changes will allow our hospitals to expand inpatient
beds if necessary and create more capacity for COVID-19 cases requiring hospitalization," AHS said on Twitter.

On Tuesday, there were 635 people in hospital with COVID-19 across the province, 143 of whom were in intensive care.  That is not related to this topic but note that the average age of all patients in hospital (Covid or not) was 56 — much younger than in earlier waves of the pandemicIn the year.
