The coal to gas conversions are going to slow down, renewables are going to eat into its share more and more, and technology advancements are making it cheaper and more viable for storage. Its not a question of if just how soon.
Phasing in new wind and solar does not take decades, more likely two or three years, and it is already happening. New power lines have long lead times, but a lot of construction is already going on. Some demand-side management and energy efficiency can be fast and cheap, but is often held back by legal and other barriers.

The key is that no new gas power plants should be built. This is devastating for Gas Producers. It means growth is in serious risk. Even the Cascades power plant for Peyto may be shut down ahead of its life expectency costing all investors involved dearly.
