That said, I can see the shares dropping a lot at he deadline if Brookfield backs out. They are already dropping. Will be interesting to see if the earnings announcements change that.

Share are dropping because the shares of BIPC are dropping. This is trading as per the offer since this is the only offer on the table and the market is behaving as if no white knight is coming.

I have to agree with the market, I don't see anyone coming forward to mess with BIP, even though IPL assets could be a lucrative addition to another energy player. Most of the sector does some business with BIP and don't want to upset them. It's kinda like going after your friends love interest and try to scoop here yourself. No one wants to go there. It's been 3 full month, if anyone was interested they'd have stepped up by now. At best they can get a Middle East based company for a share of HPL and my gut tells me it won't be on favourable terms due to the urgency. I hope I'm wrong....

lol I hope I am but the fact that no one has emerged and the price is not moving but simply tracking BIPC shares and cash bid tells me we are are going to get this company stolen from us at a massive discount. No one is going to take on Brookfield. Very frustrating.
