Scotia/TD Reports Thank you for posting those.
I got in mid 2017 @ 12.70 and I've rode this through the rockyness dividend cuts and the restructuring thier portfolio. I've made money overall while reducing down my holdings for gains over the years as I've become more uncomfortable but the very limited recovery from the Covid drop has me about fed up as a share holder. Of all the REITS I monitor (which isn't a whole bunch) Cominar has been the worst performing in recovery. And as final kick in the teeth I'm receiving almost 80 less dividend per share than at my time of purchase. (12.25 per month down to 3)
It's my bad I've held on this long but now I'm looking to exit. As a laggard, I expect Cominar to catch up to others upon reopening faster than they will grow as most are pretty close to pre pandemic prices. This will make me hold on until a more attractive exit point comes along, but with this upcoming report the company will apparently release soon, I will watch the movement and set a stop-loss to protect against a downturn (something I shoulda done a long time ago) and keep it trailing the upward movement.
At the time of purchase it was rather attractive with its coverage in several markets which it slowly dwindled. It was my first ever REIT purchase and I have learned a bunch of what to expect how it's taxed and what to look for, when I jump out I'll look for anouther couple investments as I do not mind the sector long term, and hopefully I make better decisions with what I expect and how to play it.
When I fully exit, I'm lucky if I get a profit of 5-15% (depending on what point I exit) in 4 years when I was expecting 7-9% per year of holding. For those less experienced like myself, be diligent in monitoring companies like this and have a better plan than I did and when changes come, reassess and be real with yourself on what the outlook is. My mistake was not having stops set up in early 2018 and if I had learned my lesson I would have put one on in late 2019 to protect myself and my investment experience with Cominar would have been much more positive. No one to blame but myself.
