Are We Well Enough Protected?
Are We Well Enough Protected? What protections do we have against being taken out? I think it would be worthwhile for some of us to share our thoughts on this matter. The dynamics of the situation here have certainly changed – and they continue to change.
I used to feel fairly safe in having key investors with us like Eric Sprott, Bob McEwen, AngloGold Ashanti and Newmont - who had all proclaimed that they were in this solely as long-term investors. Together they held over 30% of the co. These are sophisticated investors who would know just how to handle any hostile takeover attempts (should any come along).
The person I trust least, of course, is Mark O’Dea - who is less a mining person than a speculator and entrepreneur operating in the natural resource arena. He is like a butterfly flitting from one asset to another, prettying each up a bit and then taking what wants and flying off in search of the next prospect. He is not a good person for an investor like me to be following along in my investment decisions.
The investor I respect most is Eric Sprott – a true mining and exploration person. When he buys into something you’d better bet he’s in it for the long haul. He’s the one guy I have faith in to outmaneuver any marauders who might be showing up at our gates.
Like Eric, I feel we have entered a new and unprecedented era for precious and many other metals, and this new period is going to be the new normal for a good long time. So I look for exciting new producers who will be there to meet the demand of the future, and I stick with them.
The big question is – do our key investors still have the necessary POWER and CONTINUING RESOLVE to keep us safe so that we will one day receive our full reward for having been able to discern the tremendous potential of this asset.
