RE:Chilled cheese the claim that big Pharma has “way more to gain” only happens if they see themselves being able to get this platform to a place of commercialization before patents run out.
Sernova's patent's are good through 2030. That gives us 9 years, maybe less until we have to actually cough up the cash to refile, but nonetheless, that gives quite a lot of time for trials and other developments, so I don't think there is much of a looming threat of patent expiry. In regards to LJ and Cannacord, please explain how they would have any power to suddenly make Sernova unappealing to large pharma?
This company went out and got islets through UHN and conformal coatings, but where is the cash needed to put this all together? Is $30 mil enough? Nuh-uh.
Well according to Sernova, in their most recent MD&A, Developing Conformal Coating and moving it to the clinic will only cost them a combined 4.5 Million. So actually, 30M seems to be plenty. Additionally, I don't believe you can really be "too late" to the diabetes market. The market is massive and is in need of a better treatment, if another company provides immune protection before Sernova, it is not going to kill Sernova's chance of coming to the market with their own technologies.
I happen to be a big fan of Swiss cheese except for when someone uses it first as their love toy.

In regards to blindly accepting the CEO/BOD direction, I hope you aren't implying myself. I disliked the Cannacord deal just as much as the rest of you. However, besides the share-price (which as we know can be subject to being battered by emotional retail guys or professional manipulators in their high castles), there actually has been no indication from a pure business/science perspective that there should be any cause for concern. As far as we know, everything is going swimmingly at Sernova. Although some news releases may be light on information, they are always positive and usually spell good things for the company as a whole.
Let’s hope that the horses we bet on are more sophisticated than the folks who might want to take us out. Otherwise yours, mine and many other’s recent gains will be deleted in short order.
You see I have a problem when people make claims that lack any credence. The numbers speak for themselves. Sernova has been comparing themselves to their peers forever now and noticing the disparity between their valuation and others. I believe this in itself likely creates a floor for the valuation in which Sernova would like to achieve. I think Sernova is aware of the value of their technologies. I just can't see them undercutting the market value of the company again especially when it's in terms of actually collaborations with a dollar price attached. I think Dr. Toleikis has begun to assemble the right group of people to help advise him on any upcoming opportunities. I think these people have our best interest in mind and would want to protect our recent gains. Why? because it's their gains too.
