Goldboro LNG Subject to Federal Enviroronmental AssessmentEcojustice, representing 8 Canadian environmental organizations from across the country, has sent a very detailed letter to the Federal Government demanding that the Pieridae Goldboro project be subject to a federal environmental assessment. The Goldboro Project falls under the Designated Projects Regulations and therefor requires a federal review. Pieridae has previously stated that it had all of its required environmental permits but it appears that is not the case. A federal environmental assessment will require approximately 3 years to complete and will likely be subject to litigation by environmental organizations if the project is subsequently approved. The requirement for a federal environmental assessment puts the entire Goldboro LNG Project into jeopardy.
