Humiliating Failure of Data Security & Integrity This explains why it took so long to get the 2020 figures. Shredding files in such a way as to render them unrecoverable is a deliberate act and may be criminal in nature.
That said, I manage employees with laptops. As part of our standard in-house procedure, we have backup software that the employee cannot access running 24x7. This ensures that if a ransomware attack or a disgruntled employee destroys files, we can always access the backups.
Failure to secure company owned data on laptops is a fundamental failure of data security & integrity. It is also humiliating for a company that bills itself as a data security firm. The I.T. Magner is responsible for this debacle.
I sincerely hope Mr. Gunter addresses this in the Discord meeting on Monday. I am specifically interested in hearing about the procedural and policy changes enacted to ensure this NEVER happens again.
