Maybe I'm missing something from your post but i don't understand your logic. The fact that ENB reduced it cash outlay on an ongoing basis after it bought back ENF simply provides ENB with more DCF and doesn't have anything to do with the yield for ENB going forward.
When ENB cleaned up its balance sheet in Sept. 2018, they gave each of the 141.3 million ENF shares 0.7350 shares of ENB which generated a total of 102.93 million new shares of ENB. As such, the shares issued by the reacquisition of ENF accounts for only 5% of the ENB float. While the transaction was relevent, it was not material to ENB financials.
