RE:Automotive Li-ion Batterieshi amvantage. you raise interesting questions and issues. remember history? the horse & buggy crowd hated the new cars. noisy & polluting. scared the horses. etc. what is really different now? solar panels cover areas on a house/ industrial building roof or pasture next to a busy highway.
the pasture w/ too much noise for even domisticated animals. they are not cutting forests to install solar or windmills. they are using land already raped.
as far as windmills killing birds. absolutely true. bats, i don't know, they have radar. i've lived w/them they don't seem to be vulnerable as much as birds. just a question to you. do you have glass windows? that glass window kills more birds than any windmill. got it? glass kills more birds. this i know from over 2 decades of experience. are you willing to live w/out glass? or will you screen or put up fake owls on your big glass doors & windows?
i have lived in 3rd world countries that depend 100% on hydroelectric. no coal, no nuclear(not that i dislike nuclear). they are doing fine with nature tourists. remember any huge warerway is also a shipping line. do you propose closing the shipping? seattle & others have created salmon ladders to compensate.
you bring up the issue of producing and disposing of "green energy" products & waste. excellent point. batteries are recycled & worth over $10 each. maybe not in north america but other 3rd world countries are doing this. no one, no one, in a poorer country will throw a battery on the side of a road or in a trash container. it's worth money for recycle.
sure there are issues but the cost of solar, just as an example, has dropped 80% from 20 yrs ago -without subsidies. keep in mind that oil producers receive huge subsidies as of this moment. where would they be w/o them?
bottom line - no system is perfect.
i think you believe the current oil industry is.
that is where we disagree.
