RE:Drilling! Exciting times indeed. Fantastic to be drilling again.
As the announcement mentions, DME are drilling deeper this well. I've been looking to find any examples of previous results from companies drilling in the neighborhood at such depths (namely, down to around 3,900 feet--DME's previous wells were down to around 2,000 or so feet). I found one example, from a few decades ago (see below).
"The Great Basin Oil Company # 1 Taylor-Fuller in Sec. 16, T. 17 N., R. 20 E. A gas flow was reported from the Cambrian Tapeats Sandstone at a depth of 3500 feet. The gas was reported to contain 18.98% nitrogen, 79.5% CO2, and 1.12% helium."
The Great Basin well was actually not that far from DME's Well 4 I believe (maybe around 20-30 miles away?). It's extremely encouraging that they found helium at a concentration of 1.12% at such depths, when they weren't even exploring for helium (and I'm thus presuming weren't targeting the correct geology). Equally, the fact that it flowed is encouraging regerding reservoir quality.
More concerning is that high level of CO2, which DME definitely would not want (Rohlfing has been clear about that in the past). We can but presume that DME know all about this risk, and have targeted specific locations where nitrogen would be the primary gas. For one, I have complete confidence in the DME team. I just wanted to share the historical drilling information, in case anyone finds it interesting.
Lots of news flow to come in the next week or two (drilling results, hopefully news on the permit for well 5, and the closing of the warrants). Here's hoping for positive outcomes for all our sakes...
