RE:RE:RE:Automotive Li-ion Batterieshi amvantage, love your pun on "current" events. for brevity's sake i will suggest just one book - the driver in the driverless car - 2017- wadhwa & salkever. the future will move forward whether you or i are right. points of contention as follow...
1 - hydro for n america - canada has alot of rivers and ocean - cost is the only issue.
2 - nuclear - we agree on this one. (boron is important here)
3 - adverse effects of manufacturing batteries & solar panels & windmills - (boron needed here too) technology gets better exponentially. recycling batteries and solar panels CAN become as normal as recycling bottles, plastic, aluminum cans. pardon the pun - a "can" do attitude is what is needed.
this truly is an issue for the future, as of now, when i go to the local dump, i do not see solar panels & batteries. just furniture, plastic, metal, yard waste. even the electronic items are being recycled.
4 - natural gas pipelines - so far our best option with a caveat- AT THIS TIME - fracking leads to polluted underground fresh water supplies. it uses lots of steel, energy and machines to get it going. what are the , not only current, but future costs for this system? as with oil, how much gas does this world have? it's a LIMITED resource. the future?
5- re: vehicles in the world - your thinking, once again, is strictly today. you are not considering what will be done for communal travel in the future. winters in canada, maybe thermal energy, wind, ocean wave energy, even nuclear. all of these are tied to electricity. the concept of individual cars in heavily populated area will be a thing of the past but not in remote areas.
6- ev as a landfill - no, ev will not be a landfill when the boron is gone. it's designed as pillar & tunnel.
7- re pipeline infrastructure in 3rd world countries - maybe they just don't want the cost, pollution & highjacking private property just to get a limited resource.
8- to close out, the future belongs not to limited underground fuels but to renewabal energy, ocean waves, sun, wind. if these dissapear so does the human species.
p.s - i enjoy this conversation with you.
