Since the bonds are still priced below par, by buying them back at a discount, it booked as a gain in the financials.
Look at the OVV Q1 2020 financials as an example...after the initial oil price crash last year in Q1, they bought back 100m in bonds for 89m and booked an 11m gain on them

Even ask if, in theory, Ath was buying bonds, when would they report that buying? I'm on his naughty list, he won't respond since I contacted his boss and offered to replace him. Go figure. Pm me if you get an answer or post it for all to see.
