Does Medallion have a vision beyond magnets?Putting the long awaited TEA and other dissapointments and frustrations aside for the moment, I want to pose an open question:
It seems that prior to 2013(ish), before MDL focused in on their vision for short-term monazite to magnet production, there were a number of other visons for the company - all centering on one form or another of technologist/advisor/exploration partner, and the like.
In Sept 2009, then CEO Dr. Bill Bird anounced that the company had "changed its focus to the exploration of lithium, REEs, and related energy-technology metals." And that they were at that time "...presently negotiating to acquire significant properties that contain these commodities..."
Now, I get it, they were also going to build a pilot plant for monzazite extraction in Oman a decade ago, and that never happpened either. Again, they seemed to have spent the better part of two decades tryng to figure out who they are and what they do. But, here we are now with alomost ten years focused effort to realize their EaaS model (slow progress, delays, and set-backs aside).
However, they do seem to reference lithium alot in their social media posts in the same breath as REEs (which in and of itself is not significant). But, Mark Saxon is presently a technical advisor for United LIthium Corp (in additon to pulling double duty as a CEO for Aguila American Gold - which is interesting if not maybe a little concerning?)
At anyrate, to my question: is it beyond the pale to think that once MDL gets actual revenue coming in the door from there monazite to magnet business, they could expand their business/product profile to include lithium? Maybe circle back to some of their earlier business models like providing technical assistance with exploration, analysis, evaluation etc.? Hell, there's still outdated company descriptions out there that refer to them as "involved in the aquisition and evaluation of mineral resources projects".
I don't know, maybe that's all long forgotten and completely irrelevant to who they are today. But, I am curious if anyone out there has thoughts on if /what MDL could become long-term beyond making NdPr magnets.
