RE:RE:In it for the MoneyGood replies.
To be clear I wasn't poo-pooing the green movement. I owe my well-being to a facet of it having just concluded a career in environmental law enforcement, bringing those who didn't see the (green, environmental) light to justice. My comment and post was made from a 100,000 foot level looking at green industry in general and specifically the green energy movement which clearly is not as green as the majority of the public believes.
HPQ, within their niche, is certainly changing the technology around the production of silicon and in so doing, greening that process and that's a good thing but much of the green energy provided by utilitiy companies is heavily subsidized and not currently economical. I had the economics (or lack thereof) of wind turbines explained to me by a representative of North America's largest utility 10 years ago. It will be a great day when green energy becomes economical.
The proliferation of battery-powered vehicles will reduce local air pollution in urban Canada and elsewhere significantly when they replace gas and diesel-powered vehicles because transportation sources are currently the most significant sources of air pollution in modern, industrial countries like Canada.
I've edited this post significantly as I initially wrote a long, 4 paragraph "paper" on the green energy industry, "climate change" and variations in CO2 in the atmosphere over geological time but this is not the forum for such a thing.
Back to the theme of the board......long and strong in HPQ. GLTA.
