RE:Biden and Line 5This is a big mistake ... it's a geopolitical move that will create big instability in Eastern Europe. It may even lead to war. US is not the problem though, Germany is.
Germany needs the gas. Russia can't affford to lose Germany as a client. So therefore they will bypass the continental route through the Baltic see.
Ukraine will be one of the big losers, and once Nordstream 2 is functional, Russia and Europe will not need Ukraine anymore. Russia's main client in Europe is Germany, and the gas is currently shipped via Ukraine. This allowed Ukraine access to lower gas prices for decades, as well as using the pipeline transit as a bargaining chip. Forget about Crimea, you will see in 10 years time that Russia will invade Ukraine. Next is Moldova / Transnistria problem where Russia has a huge army stationed "to defend russian population". Moldova at least has one true ally who is part of NATO - Romania.
NATO neighbouring Russia on the Eastern Europe front is unprecedented after the fall of the East block in 1989. The Baltic countries , Romania, Poland are on alert. Belarus, is a Russian ally. Ukraine is doomed. Very interesting to see what Turkey's game will be, as Turkey has always played its own game part of NATO but having russian defense systems.
This is fire in the making, smoke will come soon enough for sure.
Gotta say this much. Russia doesn't have any neighbouring countries that finds them friendly. NONE.

That said...Biden removed the sanctions that Trump put on the Nordstream 2 pipeline from Russia to Germany.
Nordstream 2 is a 1200km+ pipeline under the Baltic Sea
This is why Biden will not have the nerve to do anything about Line 5....the political flack he would get to support Russia with an undersea pipeline 300X the distance of Line 5 under the Strait would be unbelievable...
His decision to support Nordstream 2 basically secures the tunnel for Line 5....all that is left is the dance through the courts which I have posted before will result in egg on Whitmer's face and good news for ENB shareholders...
