RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Pebble will NOT pollute the environmentAgain, thx stargazer for a thoughtful response. To be clear, its not that all big mines pollute, it's that all mines, of any size, pollute....nature of the beast. Way less pollution now than earlier, but is a reality nonetheless. What do you think tailings ponds contain ? Not drinkable fluids i assure you. The sides of tailing ponds collapse ( no, they shouldn't...we're always assured it can't happen....but it does ), and/or the bottom of pond is guaranteed to be impervious, either because they've lined it/or otherwise handled, and, many years later, oops, guess liquid from tailing pond seeped ( somehow) into groundwater..........how did that happen ?
It is possible to minimize the pollution, though costly, so costly it's still a hard sell for those in the biz of liquid pollution abatement.
So, because mining causes pollution, and because we must mine, makes sense to keep mines away from the more fragile, valuable or otherwise important environments ( think salmon spawning grounds) ......thus no Pebble, not at least for many years. A lottery ticket for the future, sure, why not....but not an investment with a return in a reasonable time frame. For that, I'd suggest SBB for example, or OSK, BTR, SKE or a dozen others.
Anyway, we all play it as we see it.....and you seem to do a lot of good research...do look at SBB, another arctic play, undervalued imo, starts with high grade open pit, goes to high grade underground...think payback is 1 1/2 years or something...fully permitted.....negotiating final financing ( to production ) etc. Cheers.
