Crescent Point - In my back yard, Murphy at the Door Slide 6 - it is starting to get exciting.....
Eric Nuttal is big on ATH, and they have a hudge debt refinancing hurdle to over come, and my guess is that Murphy Oil will come to their rescue and buy them out of Kaybob and then the Northern Duvernay will be owned by Cresent Point, Murphy Oil and Paramount. Others more in the southern gassy regions. Expect that in the month of June, according to Eric.
Shell approach to the duvernay was not about cost optimization, not about getting the most production wells, be was totally based on the optimal development of the resource. Cresent Point has a different focus, big well, big returns, make money throw the over engineering out the window that shell does.
SO JR has given us a hint what is next and it is Smoky and North Duvernay. He has highlighted those areas for us. (The best of Cresent Points Play, and the Heart of Murphys play) Smoky already has a plant on it and my guess it has some spare capacity. The north duvernay has all the Montney oil infastructure on it, and the last well that murphy drilled there was 100% oil, no gas. Likely better than our Montney oil play.
So you will have to move your eyes up to the Duvernay now, it looks like they are saving the East duvernay, and maybe we can create another new (VII generations, or Meg) from our land base?
I expect to see another well pad at Smoky and The Nother Duvernay is likely the best play if all of Alberta.
IMHO
