Howeer it is certainly worth monitoring closely. I generally categorize things in three categories, basically equivalent to low, medium, and high considerations. I put this it the low to mid range of the medium category, which is an upgrade from solidly a low consideration a year ago. Where it goes from here will remain to be seen. The only comment is that the opportunity and available science absolutely do make it worth pursuing.

Synthetic Cannabinoids will apply mostly to medicinal mj - specific cannabinoids will be produced with high purity, thus eliminating "unwanted" by-products.
So, yes, there will be an impact on LPs/MSOs who are growing mj, but mostly on the medical side.
There may also be some impact on the rec side, in the "value added" category (drinks, edibles etc), but on that front people may actually want to experience the full spectrum of the plant, not just one synthetic component.
I expect that Canopy/Constellation are already looking into this and will not be far behind.
Overall, this will be a big hit for Cronos, when they will perfect the technology as they will steal a small chunk of market from the others, making one large chunk for themselves.
Based on that, I wouldn't be surprised if Cronos/Altria entered some partnership with the other mj companies - for those it would be better to get a smaller piece if the pie than to get nothing.

The question is, what is the potential impact on traditional LP's. Stating the obvious, the traditional route, while currently viable, is time, space, and labour intensive. If the synthetic science ultimately creates what is intented, it will be devastating to the traditional growing route.
Note: This science is not yet there. However it absolutely is in progress. Ultimately it will create another competitor in the space.

This is an interesting discusion however I believe this is probably (using SS80 ranking of probability) on the low end.
If you understand and know the process of what a company has to do to get an additive okayed by the FDA or Health Canada into a drug or food product....it is costly, tedious and time comsuming for the applicant.
Yes these synthetic companies will let the traditional MJ companies do all of the work getting CBD and THC okayed for use in medical situations in the US (and others) but once okayed this will not be a open door for the synthetics. Nope, no way.
The synthetic companies will still have to perform there own medical stage 1, stage 2 and stage 3 clinical trials (takes years from my experience) and than present their findings to the FDA and Health Canada for review.
So all good than??? Nope, no way.
The results of those trials have to pass a number of tests to the FDA and Health Canada. with the first being..... That their clinical trial results
ARE STATISTICALLY SIGNIFICANTLY better than what is presently in the market at the moment. Can't be the same or less or they dont get their approval.
These two government agencies based their decisions on medical evidence only.
So, if the critics are attacking the MJ industry because Biden will never okay or legalize....what is the likelyhood synthetics get the okay??? Not freakin likely. Their hill to climb is much steeper and longer at this point in time. May happen three to five years from now but pharma is a high risk ..high reward venture.
This is just my own opinion based on my experiences in the research area of health.
