Mark Carney, the United Nations Special Envoy on Climate Action and Finance, and Conservative politician Pierre Poilievre sparred on the issue of pipelines at a parliamentary committee meeting on May 27.

Carney, who is also vice chair of Brookfield Asset Management and head of its ESG and impact fund investing, was taken to task by the Conservative MP for backing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s decision to scrap Enbridge Inc.’s Northern Gateway oil pipeline back in 2016, while Brookfield continues to invest in oil pipelines in other parts of the world.
