Air Canada is poised to reinstate a number of routes to destinations around the world this month, and they’re adding many more flights as the summer progresses.
The schedule, which could change, also shows flights between Canada and India resuming June 20.
The company’s website shows Air Canada plans to return flying to a number of airports in Atlantic Canada and in the west, including flights from Toronto to Quebec City and flights between Calgary and Victoria. They also plan to bump up service on a number of existing routes, including Montreal-Calgary and Halifax-St. John's.
The federal government recently announced it was providing $5.9 billion in low-interest loans to Air Canada. One of the conditions they insisted on was that the airline restore service to Canadian airports it had stopped flying to during the pandemic.
On the U.S. side, the site says Air Canada will resume four flights a week between Vancouver and Las Vegas starting August 1 and four flights a week between Montreal and San Francisco on July 1, and also between Toronto and Tampa on July 1. The site also shows three flights a week between Vancouver and both Honolulu and Maui for August 1 and August 3, respectively. Flights between Toronto and LaGuardia are slated to increase from two a day in June and July to six per day in August. There's one flight a day between Toronto and Los Angeles listed for June and July but two flights a day for August.
The company site says service between Toronto and Dublin will resume July 2 with three flighta a week, while flights between Calgary and Frankfurt resume July 16 and between Montreal and Cairo on June 17. Flights into Canada from both India and Pakistan have been suspended until June 21 by the federal government because of COVID-19 concerns, but the Air Canada site shows flights between Toronto and Delhi and between Vancouver and Delhi resuming June 20.
Canadian airlines voluntarily stopped flying to the Caribbean and Mexico back in January due to COVID-19 concerns, but there’s a reasonable return slated for the summer for Air Canada. Their site says the airline plans to resume Toronto-Cancun flights on June 26 and Toronto-Montego Bay on July 4. The site also shows one flight a week between Toronto and Bridgetown in June and July but three a week starting in August.
Flights between Vancouver and Puerto Vallarta are scheuled to start again on Aug. 1, while service between Montreal and Punta Cana and between Montreal and Cancun would start again on June 26. Also, Toronto-Bermuda is set to resume Aug. 7 and Toronto-Varadero would resume July 3, both with one flight per week.
Air Canada's posted schedule also shows service being restored on the Toronto-Sao Paulo, Brazil route on Aug. 2 and between Montreal and Bogota on Aug. 5.
