RE:RE:Question JClarke, LT captial gains are taxed at 0% as long as your taxable income is below the $80k threshhold.
For anyone (I've been there some years in the past) who was below the threshhold, you should sell some stock to capture some 0% gains.
For most of us, the worries going forward is not how much of the 0% can I sneak, but rather at what point do I trip the punitive taxation of the AMT. Last I looked, once you start getting north of about $700k the AMT starts increasing your effective tax rate. Oh, and let's not forget about our Democrat friends who helped institute the 3% Obamacare tax that kicks in after $250k worth of investment income.
Always gotta keep tax ramifications in mind, which is one reason I would never consider day trading, you just make your broker (back when they used to charge commissions) and the tax man rich.
