I completely understand your position.  Quite frankly you are not alone and its why the share price is what it is.  "show me the money"

Fun Fact I ran a gold mine deep in the Amazon for a few years, your gold analogy is absolutely right.  How you value a gold mine is very well established and quite easy to do.  

Valuing a tech compnay gets a little trickier, lot tricker
