Our Dynamic Duo
Our Dynamic DuoWe should all feel fortunate to have the dynamic duo of Paul Huet and Graeme Sloan at the helm of this company. Both were formerly successful CEOs of other companies, and both are real gems in my opinion. You have to look hard to find anything of real significance to complain about in regards to their shepherding of Karora since coming on board. But complaining there will be, much of it gratuitous or agenda-driven – or else just the daily doses of negativity coming from the Debbie Downers out there who find on these boards an easy megaphone for their chronic dyspepsia.
One thing I am always concerned about is getting taken out. With all the cashed up majors out there looking for up and coming, undervalued producers, I definitely think we would fit the bill nicely as a takeover candidate. We are making money, will be making even more money, and we have a 695 sq mi land package where everywhere you look you find gold. I think those who believe we are not the type of operation a bigger company would be looking at are fooling themselves.
Anyway, to get to my point, Paul's decision to move himself and his family (wife and 5 youngest children) half way around the world speaks volumes to me regarding his commitment to the company and his resistance to giving away Karora on the cheap before it has barely gotten off the ground in terms of realizing its potential. Paul has made a 4 to 5 year commitment to the company, which tells me he appreciates what we all have here.
I don’t know how many realize what a weighty matter it is to decide to move your young children to another country for 5 or more years. In this case it is almost a certainty that Paul’s young children will grow up loving Australia and will in fact consider themselves Australians. From Canada to the U.S to Australia – Paul Huet is a man who “puts his money where his mouth is.”
