Take a quick look at the trend on Page 31 - Notional Amounts of Precious Metal Contracts by Maturity.  The data begins in 2001.

Also, not a bad idea to scan the rest of the report to get a feel for the magnitude of risk being taken by JP Morgan compared to the other banks in Commodity, Equity, and Precious Metals (gold)  Derivatives.  Just sayin'
