RE:RE:RE:Thoughts on Residential SchoolsFantom, I went to a small town public school at the same time. The Message was SPARE THE ROD AND SPOIL THE CHILD .... you beat in good behaviour was the common norm. My grade one teacher paddled us regularly. Each class room had a strap hanging there to remind us and some used yard sticks. In Europe private schools used canning (I worked some of these individuals). I also know of kids who went these residential schools and had similar experience to you. Girls seemed to fair better. My beef is that we are not asking for apologies from our former colonial masters and especially the Royal Family...they are being given free pass. They set these policies and practiced them world wide. Are we afraid to mention any challenge their role?
