There was a time when politicians acted with the country's future in mind , today's political hacks will say or do anything for immediate gratification , no matter how dangerous or destructive it might be . MacDonald put all his efforts into building the railroad at great cost to his popularity at the time but that railroad was the glue that put Canada together . Our first PM was a visionary and was heralded as such in the history books until recently . I don't generally wade into indigenous issues but I believe MacDonald is being blamed for crimes committed by the CATHOLIC CHURCH . Politicians didn't kill and hide those children , it was PRIEST'S AND NUN'S . Granted it was paid for by the government but the intention was to give these kids the tools to function in a market economy . Unfortunately it was destroyed by sadistic and sick individuals hiding behind the Catholic religion . Unpopular as that might be , that is the reality .
This country needs a reboot as it seems our hard drive is clogged with mal-ware . Immigrants come here , they work hard and within a decade they have season tickets courtside for the Raptors . Canada's indigenous pay no taxes , they never have , not income tax , not sales tax , nothing . Most indigenous in BC get it and are an economic engine , they own golf courses , vineyards , wineries and soon they'll be partners in some major pipelines . This is a country of opportunities but you have to get off the couch to access those situations .
People need to stop looking back and pointing fingers , its unproductive . Today is the first day of the rest of your life , how are you going to spend it ? If all you want to do is coast then don't whine when someone passes you on the highway of life .
