RE:RE:Question for geologists or for oil expertsSpeak for yourself! Some of us are perfectly capable of understanding well log data, core analysis, etc and we need to have this data released to be able to make sense out of Recon's misleading PR releases.
first thing we need to learn: is the Kavango basin real and is it a 30,000 foot thick sedimentary basin? The thick sediments are only inferred by the Aeromag data (I AM a geophysicist), we need Recon to tell us how deep the well TD'd and how much of the hole is in sedimentary rock.
next: tell us what kind of rocks are shown by the samples and logs (and cores) - shale? Sandstone? Silt? Carbonates?
next: define the oil and gas "shows". Are the samples/ cores bleeding oil? Is there fluorescence? Is there oil staining? Gas detector shows? What percentage of the 600 foot interval had the "shows"? Are the "shows" in tight, organic rich shales, or are they in reservoir rock?
and finally: if there are reservoir rocks, do the well logs indicate any pay? Were any drillstem tests done?
so I don't want to see results "boiled down" to barrels of oil in place reported by the management and insiders of Recon. I want facts, and if an independent authority like Netherwell Sewell sees fit to publish an oil in place number, let's see their report.
back in my day, the TSX required any release of reserve estimates to be written or approved by an independent, TSX recognized reservoir engineering firm. Let's make sure we have that before Recon starts blabbing about billions of barrels.
