RE:RE:RE:Underground valueKFW provided an export loan. It was tied to having some of the CU concentrate be sent to a German smelter. KFW has been accomodating so far in the delayed start-up and is providing relatively cheap debt. They would probably lend more for the open pit mine. Whether the other existing lenders, which are much more expensive, would lend more (and at what rate?) is unknown.
If they can get the UG operations running smoothly and look at an expansion, the open pit mine could be implemented relatively quickly (for a copper mine). Given the upcoming copper shortage, a larger copper player could be very interested in NCU, but the question would be the acquisition price and what Pala would find necessary to make it worth their while and sell.
