TD Flash note on Ballard

TD Flash note on BallardHere's the same analyst for XBC with commentary on BLD

Ballard announced a purchase order for 15 fuel-cell modules for India's bus market.

Impact: NEUTRAL

Details: Ballard announced a purchase order from Tata Motors for 15 FCmovetmmodules that are planned to power fuel-cell electric buses in India. The units will shipin 2022. Tata and Research & Development Centre of Indian Oil Corporation Limitedwill use these 15 units to study the viability of fuel-cell technology for commercialvehicles in the region.TD View: Although this is another positive indication with Ballard gaining exposure toIndia's largest commercial vehicle OEM and commercial vehicle market, supportedby increasing global regulations towards zero-emissions, we note that timelinesaround material sales pipeline conversion and revenue growth were a meaningfulfocus on the recent Q1/21 results conference call. In this context, we do not view thisorder as material and, as a result, do not expect that this announcement will havea meaningful impact on the share price. However, we continue to believe that thecompany's >75 million kilometres of in-revenue service, guidance of a 70% reductionin the cost of its fuel-cell modules by 2024, and strong strategic partnershipsarguably make Ballard the best positioned among its peers to commercialize fuel-
cell technology for heavy motive applications

Curious to know what the difference between neutral and mixed impact is, but it appears mixed is negative and in XBC's recent case (where most of us thought the BGX contract was extremely positive), it can warrant a haircut on the sp target
