15.8 carats pink sold for $ 29.3 million

May 24 (UPI) -- The largest purple-pink flawless diamond ever sold fetched nearly $30 million during a weekend auction in Hong Kong, Christie's says.

Known as "The Sakura," the fancy vivid diamond is 15.8 carats -- the largest ever sold at auction -- and was sold to an unnamed Asian buyer for $29.3 million on Sunday, said Vickie Sek, Christie's Asia Pacific chairman of jewelry.
